Mountain Magic

We spent the day up in the mountains today at Woods Point following the Goulburn River

We were last here in 1998 and were looking forward to revisiting a few old favourite places. Unfortunately in 2006 fires had razed Gaffneys Creek and the A1 Mine Settlement and there was little left of the original townships. Woods Point had changed very little, although the nine had taken over the General store my fave garage was still there with the old shell bowsers and old tin signs. We also revisited the old kiln at Charles Track and my fave old truck in the bush was still there.

We also had fun exploring the old Mansfield cemetery.

Then it was back to the Delatite Hotel for a great meal and a few drinks and laughs at the bar.

product Review -Tim Holtz Distress stains

I was finally able to get my hands on some Tim Holtz Distress stain. The biggest decision after deciding what 6 colours to start my stash with was what to stain next. I LOVE this stuff. It flows beautifully and the little dauber spreads it evenly across what ever you are using. I chose Mustard Seed, Broken China, Vintage Photo, Peeled Paint, Pumice Stone and Antique linen to start with because they are my fave colours in the distress inks.

 

Mustard Seed and Broken China on these semi gloss Adornit stickers ..... it was surprisingly easy to control where I put the ink across the tiny letter squares with very little overflow. The colour went on evenly and dried very quickly and the colour was accurate. I can see my stash of hundreds of letter stickers having a rebirth in my pages.

 Next I decided to try some fabric leaves and blended two colours to create a more natural colour for leaves. Once again it was easy to control the flow and direction and it dried rapidly even though the leaf was quite saturated.

I got this canvas flower in a kit last year at CHA. I randomly applied Vintage Photo, Antique Linen and Pumice Stone the assembled the flower giving the top a quick hit with Vintage Photo at the end.

Well if I wasn't already in love with this stuff I thought I'd best see how it went on chipboard ..... wow it was so quick, even and dried so quickly I really didn't have to wait to be able to adhere it  to the page.

A wonder ful couple of days with my boys

we have had a fabulous time away, once again our cabin was awesome, this time we were lakeside which was fantastic. The boys fed the local ducks twice a day from  the balcony and tonight three Kangaroos came in to graze by the lakeside.

We started each day feeding the ducks then headed to the farmyard to feed the resident goats, sheep, pig, geese and chickens.

Back to the cabin for breakfast and then off to Squiggles play park - on site. The boys loved the indoor play park, Alex although he is dinosaur mad and loved it last year didn't think too much of the water park the dinosaur noises scared him, but he did come good the second day.

Each afternoon we headed to the pool where the boys would have a swim and then crash for a couple of hours in the pusher. We had a friends son come and spend the afternoon which was fantastic he was awesome keeping Ty occupied and we had to laugh at both of us (14 and 50) acting like  two year olds playing with bubbles (you are never too old for bubbles).

All in all a fabulous couple of days with my two favorite men.
